Castle Hunting in The Lakes

When we wasn't at the lake or feeding birds (more of that soon), we was castle hunting during our stay at the lake district!

We went to Kendal Castle in their town centre and drove up, right past it, did a huge 10 minute drive lap to finally ask someone for directions and see that you can actually view the castle from the road haha! The castle itself was just ruins and it was free to enter. If you like history and want to explore, I would definitely go!! We lapped the castle grounds and found a hidden room just on the off chance which kind of made the castle that much more exciting. To get there you have to walk up a hill, so their is the best view from the top!

The day after we looked up a castle that was more standing than the Kendal ruins and found Sizergh Castle. Unfortunately as it was the Saturday they don't allow access to inside the castle on Friday and Saturdays so the people who own it can get the place cleaned. So instead we got lost round the castle grounds, found little outhouses and followed the map around, looking at the bee nest, the biggest cabbage grow I have ever seen and the wood made to look like snails. Castle's are so romantic and although we have house estates near home we don't have a castle… I could not stop staring at that square patterned rooftop!!
