5 Months Old

William is now 5 Months old, how that happened I will never know as I feel like he is still my little newborn! When mum to be's are warned how fast it goes, they really mean it goes bloody fast!

His milestones to date are:

Sitting up unaided for a few seconds (Hands in the air).
Standing on his feet and being able to pull himself up to the standing position when we hold hands.
Learning to nap in the day out of Mummy's arms.
We got used to using the baby carrier so life is easier as William hates prams and strollers.
Little bumps are forming in his lower gums, so peggies could be on the way!
Good at tummy time but still has no interest in rolling!
Started baby porridge & had his first taste of carrots.

My baby boy is my absolute world. The intense feelings of love that has grown for him over these 5 months are indescribable.

We started the journey of weaning when is turned 5 months old. The reason it's a month early is really down to his size, milk not satisfying him and the moment I just had to do something was when every night my baby would wake up so starving for his milk that by the time his Dad would run down the stairs (30 seconds and being generous), make a bottle (Perfect prep so  2 minutes) & run back to bedroom to deliver the bottle (30 seconds), my little one would be so distressed, tears would be pouring own his face. He was draining around 19oz in night feeds alone, that was after his bedtime bottle and before his breakfast. I couldn't do it, so we brought in the aptamil porridge, which William loves and slowly I have introduces pureed carrot in the afternoon (he doesn't like too much).

Sleeping is still a work in progress but we are finding small things to make it easier, bedtime is now 7:30pm-8pmish and his bedtime routine is like military, the same thing every night, in the hope it tightens everything up a little. So far, since I started logging and noting all his naps and sleeping, he has gone from an average of 9.5 hours sleep a night and is now at just under 11 hours. That is including night feeds, which previously, was every 1-2 hours and from 3am, he would wake every 30 minutes for a cuddle, to now being 2-3 wake ups a night, 2 being a feed and one being a cuddle. So fingers crossed!
