Activities to do With Your 3-6 Month Old Baby

I thought I would compile a list of everything that has entertained me and my 3-6 month old over the months. If there is one thing that I think makes motherhood hard, it is staying cooped up in the house. I always find my day with William so much easier if we have a plan, an activity, a walk... just something planned for each day of the week. I think that's why I struggle more at weekends than in the weekdays when it is just me and him, as there is a structure and plan to each of my monday - fridays but weekends is always up in the air!

Sensory Play -

We used two!

Our local Sure Start has an amazing sensory room that William had his baby massage course in, it is so relaxing with the lights, music, water bed... I would normally book it out for 30-60 minutes depending on the plan and William loves it!

At home, my Mum also put together our own Sensory room by getting a cheap Children's tent and attaching christmas lights all through the inside. He literally would sit in there for 30 minutes plus, just happily lying there with me staring at the lights change colours!

Messy Play -

I love painting with William. I know people would say he's too small but is there any better memory that putting paint all over those tiny feet and hands and plastering them on home made cards, baby books etc.

I actually bought an A3 sketch pad and I'm hoping to put together an art diary for William, all of his paintings, along with the pictures I take of the activity glued in.

I started painting with William at Christmas when he was 3 months old, I really don't think you can do it too early as long as you make sure they don't swallow anything! I love seeing those little foot prints grow with each card.

Library Fun -

We attend Rhyme Time every Thursday. It's a free group run by the local authority and to be honest, it's brilliant. It's the one group where I don't feel forced to make friends and socialise when most of the time, I just want to spend time with my Baby first and foremost! We've learnt new songs, have a day out as it's a 15 minute drive from home and he met other babies!

We also attend our local library and pick out 6 books a week to read at bedtime. I love this!!!

_____________

Baby Groups -

If I'm honest, I don't go to many!

I loved baby massage as it was a 6 week course and everyone was new together, but mum groups in general just make me feel nervous. I've attended one for babies 12 months and under and really enjoyed it for Williams sake and I'm hoping to attend again shortly. I just wish groups were less clicky!

Walks in the Park -

This is our weekly routine every Tuesday afternoon, a walk round the park to see the deers with my Dad! I think I will miss this one the most when I go back to work!

William also loves the baby swings at Children's parks!

Soft Play -

Admittedly this one has room to grow. William isn't a fan of soft play but I'm trying to make him accustomed to it as I know he will be going there a lot when he is in Nursery once I go back to work. He is a mummy's boy and is mainly only happy when he is in my arms but I'm sure once he's on the move, his love of the ball pit will grow!
